Here at New Buck Chimney Services we strive to be the #1 choice for comprehensive chimney care for our community of Shreveport. In order to offer the best services to keep our customers safe and comfortable year-round, we complete continued education and maintain memberships in the Chimney Safety Institute of America (CSIA) and the National Chimney Sweep Guild. These commitments to excellence take time and attention, but we still manage to put our passions to use with Warrior Horse.
Healing Warriors Through Warrior Horse
New Buck Chimney Services owner and operator, Kevin Russell put his passion for people to use when he saw a need in our world today. Together, Kevin and his wife brought this vision to life in Warrior Horse, a nonprofit corporation that offers unique equine therapy to veterans who suffer from post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Longtime horse lovers, Kevin and Teresa, use their passion for horses and people to help veterans begin their recovery, reduce symptoms of depression, post-traumatic stress, and suicidal thoughts.
Warrior Horse Brought to Life
A plan or vision can be just that for years, but the vision the Russells have for Warrior Horse has been brought to life through grants and donations. Veterans can take part in three-day workshops that jumpstart the process of recovery from PTSD. To participate, veterans must have a PTSD diagnosis and have had some time since their tour of active duty. They are invited to participate at no financial cost to the veteran, but each workshop can only take five veterans, so it is an intimate and intensive equine-based therapy that sees results.
Equine-based therapy methods are highly useful and successful to individuals with mental illnesses and ailments. The results of PTSD on veterans is devastating, and leads to 22 deaths per day due to completed suicide. Warrior Horse is committed to bringing this number down. Through a “bonding process” between horse and man (or woman), the veteran is able to build trust with the horse. This process transfers to life once they leave Warrior Horse, to help the veteran build trust among friends and family and begin to heal in their own family and community.
Follow Warrior Horse
We are a new program of many designed to help veterans, but there are still veterans who aren’t recovering. There are still veterans lost every day to PTSD, and it is our goal to offer hope and healing to traumatized veterans through Warrior Horse. You can donate to this worthy cause through our website or through our Facebook page. If you’re a New Buck Chimney Services customer, every project that you schedule with us will benefit this unique organization that supports US veterans. Warrior Horse and New Buck thanks you for being a part of the community and for supporting this worthy cause.
