At New Buck Chimney Services, we pride ourselves with providing our customers an extraordinary customer experience and high quality chimney and fireplace services. While we are passionate about our work with chimneys, we are also passionate about something very different – horses!
While horses and chimneys might not seem to have a lot in common, they do for New Buck owner Kevin Russell. Horses are Kevin’s passion; with his strong natural connection to these majestic creatures, Kevin has 12 horses of his own and he enjoys spreading his love of these majestic animals to others in the community!
Our horses in the community
Two of our most important core values are compassion for others and helping people. Through our work with horses in the community, we are able to combine both while providing meaningful and therapeutic experiences for others.
Through his volunteer work at a local equine therapy center, Kevin is able to work with everyone from veterans to battered women. The aim of equine therapy is to help patients connect spiritually with these incredible animals, offering an alternative treatment plan to medication or traditional therapy. In addition to his equine therapy volunteer work, Kevin is also involved with the local 4H Horse Club.
The Saratoga Warhorse Foundation
One charity that we passionately support is the Saratoga Warhorse Foundation. As the proud father of a Marine, Kevin has the utmost respect for our service men and women. Supporting this charity allows him to combine his passion for horses with his respect for our country’s veterans.
The Saratoga Warhorse foundation, based in Saratoga Springs, New York, provides a once in a lifetime opportunity for returning veterans struggling with depression, PTSD, or other issues. By creating peer to peer, action based equine experiences, veterans work to establish an interactive bond with their assigned horse to help create lasting change in their lives.
In addition to helping veterans adjust to life outside of a combat zone, the program also benefits the horses. All of the horses used by the Foundation are retired racehorses, many who have won hundreds of thousands of dollars in prize money and purses. The horses are able to do meaningful and rewarding work off of the track, allowing them to continue to be useful long after their days of racing have passed.
The Foundation offers this intensive three day program at no cost to veterans, operating entirely on donations. We are proud to support this organization because of the positive change they are able to create in the lives of our veterans as well as their respect and reverence for the bond between people and horses.
